Service Description

MALARIA Malaria protection is essential because malaria is a serious and potentially fatal disease spread by infected mosquitoes. Here’s why you should take precautions: • High Risk in Certain Areas – Malaria is common in tropical and subtropical regions, including parts of Africa, Asia, and South America. • Severe Symptoms – It can cause high fever, chills, sweating, headaches, muscle pain, nausea, and vomiting. • No Vaccine Available – Unlike some diseases, there is no malaria vaccine for general travellers, so prevention is key. • Life-Threatening Complications – If untreated, malaria can lead to organ failure, anaemia, and even death. • Preventive Measures Work – You can reduce your risk by: • Taking antimalarial medication before, during, and after travel. • Prevention of mosquito bites is the main way to prevent malaria as the disease is transmitted through mosquitoes. For example using mosquito repellent and wearing long sleeved clothes and sleeping with a mosquito net are all ways of using bite avoidance • Sleeping under mosquito nets treated with insecticide. If you’re traveling to a malaria-prone area, it’s best to consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice on prevention
