MMR vaccine
Service Description
Why Get Vaccinated? Measles, mumps, and rubella are highly contagious viral infections that can cause serious complications, including brain inflammation, deafness, and birth defects if contracted during pregnancy. Outbreaks still occur worldwide, making vaccination essential for travelers. Who Should Get Vaccinated? • All travelers who have not received two doses of the MMR vaccine. • People born before 1990—some may not be fully vaccinated against mumps. • Those visiting high-risk areas, including parts of Asia, Africa, and South America, where measles is more common. • Individuals attending large gatherings—festivals, sporting events, or religious pilgrimages increase exposure risk. Vaccine Schedule • Adults & Travelers: If unsure of vaccination status, two doses should be given at least four weeks apart before travel. How It’s Given • Administered as an injection in the upper arm. Side Effects • Usually mild, including soreness at the injection site, fever, or rash. Additional Precautions • Check your vaccination history before traveling. • Practice good hygiene—wash hands frequently. • Seek medical attention if exposed to measles, mumps, or rubella.
